Step up to lead in DPS as we innovate, motivate and make a real impact for our teams and kids. There are a variety of ways to make a difference as a school leader in DPS:

These leaders of elementary or secondary schools are responsible for the academic excellence and personal growth of every student. Day to day, this includes:

• Managing and inspiring a school team.

• Coordinating effective instructional programs.

• Overseeing financial and facility resources.

• Establishing effective public relationships.

• Organizing school operations.

Assistant principals support their schools’ principal with the overall direction and leadership of the school. This includes:

• Leading instruction by supporting teachers in growth and development.

• Aligning people, time and money to drive student achievement.

• Applying staff performance management systems to build an effective school culture.

• Advocating for members of the school community and engaging with family and community members

These team members serve in administrative and leadership roles that support and supervise areas of instruction, operations, school culture or other school-based programs. Examples of dean roles include:

• Dean of Culture, to supervise school events and celebrations.

• Dean of Instruction, to address and support the needs of all learners.

• Dean of Operations, supervising school operations team members.

• Dean of Student Services, coordinating student awards, intervention services and other programs.

Various teacher leader roles in DPS are opportunities for teachers to lead without leaving the classroom.
