In order to ensure that our school buildings are still open and safe learning environments for our students and staff, the following positions are eligible for hiring bonuses depending on time of hire and amount of time worked:

Transportation Bonus Program

Non CDL New Hire Bonus (24-25 School Year)

$1,500 in three disbursements

  • $500 Upon release to the terminal after successfully obtaining a CDL license and completing training. 

  • $500 Five months after hiring date or the end of the school year, whichever comes first. 

  • $500 End of September of the following school year. 

Note: The employee must return to work the following year, bid for a route, and work until the end of September to receive the last incentive installment.

$2,000 in three disbursements

  • $750 Upon release to the terminal after successfully completing training.

Any Non CDL or Bus Para who coverts into a CDL position will be eligible for the $1,500 bonus.

Terms and Conditions

*If employee is terminated due to performance, attendance or behavior matters, no incentive bonus will be awarded.  The incentive bonus is discretionary. DPS reserves the right to modify or change these guidelines at any time.*

The Sign-On operates in accordance with the following program requirements:

  • Sign-On bonuses are awarded at the discretion of management with the Training department designee having final approval authority.

  • The Transportation Department will provide a Sign-On form for completion by the applicant to indicate they understand the program rules.

  • Any disputes arising from the application of this program will be the responsibility of the Training department management or their designee to resolve. 

  • A Training Designee will monitor the use of the Sign-On Bonus and will report annually on the use of the Program.
