Department of Technology

The mission of the DPS Department of Technology Services (DoTS) is to be a proactive partner enabling the success of every child. We support the students, families, and staff of Denver Public Schools by providing the infrastructure, tools, data, and support to enable effective educators and efficient operations.

Human Resources

Our Human Resources Team is an integral part of DPS. Although we aren’t always in the schools, we’re in it for the kids. We work closely with our school leaders to ensure we’re putting great teachers in every classroom, and take great care to ensure DPS hires and retains the highest quality candidates for all roles throughout the district.

English Language Acquisition

Our English Language Acquisition (ELA) programs support nearly 25,000 culturally and linguistically diverse students so that they can participate equally and meaningfully in the classroom. The ELA department and school staff are available to help parents understand these services, and recommend a program best suited to the unique needs of their child.

Accountability, Research & Evaluation

From former classroom teachers to research analysts, we are a diverse team working to support positive academic outcomes and equity for all students. Some team members serve as a district resource for developing and administering district and state assessments in a multitude of content areas in both English and Spanish. Others analyze and report data, including data to help identify opportunity gaps among historically underserved students. Others focus on research and evaluation designed to impact district strategy, often with an explicit focus on issues of disproportionality.

Family & Community Engagement

The Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) offers programs and services for students to improve their academic achievement. We offer classes and trainings for parents and families to help them become academic partners for their children and to become more self-sufficient. We offer opportunities for the community to share their voice and partner to create stronger schools.

Communications oversees districtwide internal and external communications, including district and school crisis communications; media relations; interpretation and translation services; daily newsletters for staff and weekly newsletters for community; and daily updating of dpsk12.org, social media and The Commons employee intranet.
